You do not need a perfect beer-league résumé. Start with the basics, find a comfortable division, and let the first shift take care of the nerves.

Do I need a full team to register?
Not always. Many KC adult leagues accept individual free agents and place them on a team, while other sessions are built for established teams. Contact the rink before registration closes to ask about open spots.
What equipment do adult players need?
Players should bring a properly fitted helmet with a full cage or shield, skates, gloves, shoulder and elbow pads, hockey pants, shin guards, socks, and a stick. Your league may have additional safety requirements.
What level should I sign up for?
Be honest about your skating, pace, and playing experience. Recreational leagues are welcoming to newer adults, while intermediate and advanced divisions are better for players with established game experience. A league director can help place you.
Where are adult leagues played?
Adult league games run at rinks across the metro, including facilities in Overland Park, Independence, Liberty, Olathe, and Blue Springs. Use the rink directory to see what is closest to home or work.
